Not every move stays local. When a family needed to relocate from London to Bristol, they needed more than a local removals company with a van and a rough plan. A 120-mile move doesn't allow for second runs, improvised loading, or access problems discovered on the day. Everything had to be right from the start.
This is how the day went.
The job
The move involved a full family home: around 80-90 boxes, multiple large pieces of furniture, and a substantial amount of garden equipment. The volume alone ruled out a single vehicle. Two fully equipped 3.5-tonne Maxi Mover vans were allocated, each with 24 cubic metres of cargo space and a 1.4-tonne payload, giving the team more than enough capacity without compromising what could be taken.
A four-man crew was assigned to keep loading efficiently and to handle the heavier and more awkward pieces safely.
The day
The team arrived at the London property at 7am and started.
Packing started immediately. Fragile items were wrapped and boxed with care. Furniture that needed to travel in pieces was dismantled methodically: two double beds, a bunk bed, and several large flat-pack units were all broken down before loading. Larger pieces that could travel assembled, including two sofas, a sideboard, and a dining table, were wrapped in protective materials to prevent scratches or damage during the journey.
The most involved task of the morning was the garden. A large 18ft by 11ft North Athlete Trampoline needed to be fully disassembled, with each component secured and wrapped before loading onto the van. It's the kind of item that can cause delays if it isn't planned for. Because it had been flagged at the survey stage, the crew arrived knowing what was involved and had the time and materials to handle it properly.
With everything loaded and secured across both vans, the convoy set off for Bristol. The team arrived at the new property at 3pm. Unloading and placement of all items in their designated rooms were completed by 6:30pm. Everything arrived intact, including the trampoline, which the client had been particularly concerned about given its value. It was reassembled at the Bristol property without issue.

What made the difference
A London to Bristol move done in a single day doesn’t happen by chance. The things that kept this one on track were all decided before moving day:
- The right vehicle size for the actual volume, confirmed by a survey
- A crew large enough to load efficiently without rushing
- Specialist items identified and planned for in advance
- A realistic start time that built enough buffer into the day for the Bristol end to finish properly
When those decisions are made early, the day itself tends to run as it should.
