Packing tips, how to pack efficiently
These tips apply whether you are packing yourself or preparing for our team to collect.

Declutter before packing
Use the opportunity to declutter your belongings before packing. Donate or sell items you no longer need to reduce the amount of stuff you’ll have to pack and unpack. This way, you’ll have less to move and start fresh in your new place, keeping it organised and clutter-free
Start early, one room at a time
Begin packing well before your move date, tackling one room at a time. It is easier to manage, less likely to leave things out, and gives you time to declutter as you go.
Use the right box for the right items
Small boxes for heavy items, books, crockery, tools. Large boxes for light, bulky items, bedding, duvets, soft toys. Mixing heavy items into large boxes makes them difficult to lift and increases the risk of the base giving way.
Use clothing and linen as extra padding
Towels, blankets, and soft clothing can be used to wrap and cushion fragile items and fill gaps in boxes. This saves on bubble wrap and makes efficient use of space in the van.
Tape every box properly
Tape both the top and bottom of every box using the H-tape method, one strip across the centre seam and one along each edge. This keeps the box rigid when stacked and prevents the base from opening during loading or transport.
Label by room and general contents
Mark each box with the destination room and a general description of what is inside, for example: Kitchen, plates and glasses, or Bedroom 2, clothes and shoes. This is enough detail for the removal team to place boxes in the right room without needing to list every item.
Use suitcases and bags
You can maximise your moving space by filling your suitcases with clothes, linens, or other soft items. Suitcases are designed to hold a lot and can help protect delicate fabrics. Packaging them efficiently avoids wasting valuable space and reduces the boxes needed, making your move more organised and manageable.
Dismantle furniture and keep hardware together
Where furniture needs to be dismantled, keep all screws, bolts, and fixings in a clearly labelled zip-lock bag and tape it to the corresponding piece of furniture. This avoids anything going missing and makes reassembly straightforward.
Pack electronics with care
Pack electronics in their original boxes, if available. Use bubble wrap and padding to protect screens and delicate components. This ensures that your electronics are well-protected during the move and helps maintain their condition.
Pack an essentials box last
Pack a separate box or bag with everything you will need on the first night and the following morning, kettle, mugs, toiletries, a change of clothes, phone chargers, important documents. Load this last so it comes off the van first.
Frequently asked questions
FAQs - packing materials London
If you have a quick question before booking, these are the answers we’re asked most often. If anything is unclear, just call us or request a quote and we’ll talk it through.

Yes. We deliver to addresses across all London boroughs. A flat delivery charge of £25.00 plus VAT applies. Orders delivered through the London Congestion Charge zone carry an additional £18.00 charge
How many boxes do I need?
As a guide: a studio or one-bedroom property typically suits the Small pack (15 small, 15 large boxes). A one to two-bedroom property suits the Medium pack (30 of each). A two to three-bedroom property suits the Large pack (45 of each). If you are unsure, call us and we will advise based on your property size and volume.
Can I return unused boxes?
Yes. Unused boxes can be returned and deducted from your total: £2.00 per small box, £3.00 per large box, £10.00 per wardrobe box. Boxes must be undamaged and unused. If you need extra boxes beyond what was ordered, additional items are charged at the same individual rates.
Are the boxes new?
Yes. All boxes supplied are new, double-walled, and unused.
Can you bring materials on the day of the move?
Yes. If you are booking a removal with us and need extra materials on the day, our team can bring additional boxes or supplies. Let us know in advance when confirming your booking so we can bring what you need.
What is the difference between small and large boxes?
Small boxes (460 x 330 x 330mm) are designed for heavy, compact items, books, crockery, files, tools. The smaller size keeps weight manageable. Large boxes (460 x 460 x 500mm) are designed for light, bulky items, bedding, clothes, soft furnishings. Using the right box for the right items makes loading safer and more efficient.
