Packing tips
How to pack efficiently
These tips apply whether you are packing yourself or getting ready for our team.
Declutter before packing
Donate, sell or clear out what you no longer need before you pack. Less to pack, less to move and a fresh start in your new home.
Start early, one room at a time
Begin well before your move date and pack one room at a time. It is easier to manage, you are less likely to leave things out, and you can declutter as you go.
Use the right box for the right items
Small boxes for heavy items such as books, crockery and tools. Large boxes for light, bulky items such as bedding and duvets. Heavy items in large boxes are hard to lift and can make the base give way.
Use clothing and linen as padding
Towels, blankets and soft clothing can wrap and cushion fragile items and fill gaps in boxes, saving bubble wrap and space in the van.
Tape every box properly
Tape the top and bottom of every box with the H-tape method: one strip across the centre seam and one along each edge, so the box stays rigid when stacked.
Label by room and general contents
Mark each box with the room and what is inside, for example “Kitchen, plates and glasses”. That is enough for the team to put every box in the right room.
Use suitcases and bags
Fill suitcases with clothes, linen and other soft items. They hold a lot, protect delicate fabrics and mean fewer boxes.
Keep furniture fixings together
When furniture is dismantled, put the screws and fixings in a labelled zip-lock bag and tape it to the matching piece, so nothing goes missing and reassembly is simple.
Pack electronics with care
Use the original boxes if you still have them. Otherwise wrap screens and delicate parts in bubble wrap and padding.
Pack an essentials box last
Keep a first-night box with the kettle, mugs, toiletries, a change of clothes, chargers and important documents. Load it last so it comes off the van first.

Best London Removals – very aptly named! Very reasonably priced, very efficient and professional service and very well organised, 5 star removal job! As it was a fairly long distance removal (in terms of travelling time) Ivelin’s team came the day before to pack up the first removal lorry then came very early the next morning to pack up the other one. They carefully dismantled any furniture that needed it, beds and wardrobes, and carefully wrapped up our sofas in protective coverings so that they weren’t damaged in transit. … They even safely moved our fish tank with the fish still in it and all of the fish are still alive and well!

Do you deliver across London?
Yes. We deliver across Greater London for a flat £30. Deliveries inside the Congestion Charge zone carry an extra £18.
How many boxes do I need?
As a guide, the Small pack suits a room, studio or one-bedroom home, the Medium pack a one to two-bedroom home and the Large pack a two to three-bedroom home. Not sure? Call us, or show us what needs moving via WhatsApp video and we will suggest the right amount.
Can I return unused boxes?
If our team is doing your move, any unused, undamaged boxes can be collected and refunded at the end of the move day. We cannot take returns after that.
Are the boxes new?
Yes. All boxes are new, unused and double-walled.
Can you bring materials on the day of the move?
If our team is packing for you, we bring all the materials on the day. If you are packing yourself, we deliver them before your move.
What is the difference between small and large boxes?
Small boxes (460 x 330 x 330 mm) are for heavy, compact items such as books, crockery, files and tools. Large boxes (460 x 460 x 500 mm) are for light, bulky items such as bedding, clothes and soft furnishings.
