Removals in Camden
Trusted, insured, and carefully planned for every property across one of London's most varied boroughs
We provide fully insured home and office removals across the London Borough of Camden, with fixed-price quotes, optional packing, and a team experienced in the specific access conditions, parking rules, and property types across every part of the borough since 2011.
Removals across the London Borough of Camden
Best London Removals is based in Ruislip and has been carrying out moves in and out of Camden since 2011. The borough spans an unusually wide range of property types and access conditions, from the large Victorian villas of Hampstead and the Georgian terraces of Bloomsbury to the busy streets of Camden Town, the regenerated new-build quarter around King's Cross, and the steep, narrow roads of Highgate. One practical detail applies to every Camden move without exception: Camden Council requires a minimum of 17 working days' notice for a parking suspension, the longest lead time of any London borough, and the parking fee structure is unique. Planning early is not optional here.
The housing stock is similarly varied: Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses in Kentish Town and Primrose Hill, Georgian mansion blocks and period conversions in Bloomsbury and Swiss Cottage, large detached houses in Hampstead and Highgate, and a growing number of new-build apartment developments around King's Cross and Camden Wharf. Each property type brings its own access profile, and we assess every one before moving day.

Home removals in Camden
From a large Victorian house in Hampstead to a period conversion flat in Kentish Town, a mansion block in Swiss Cottage, or a new-build apartment near King's Cross, every Camden property has its own access profile. Steep approach roads in Highgate and Hampstead, narrow entrances in the terraced streets of Camden Town and Kentish Town, and the goods lift and loading bay requirements of newer developments around King's Cross all require different planning. We assess every property before moving day and bring the right team size and vehicle. We work across all Camden postcodes, including NW1, NW3, NW5, NW6, N6, and WC1.

Areas we cover in Camden
We cover the whole London Borough of Camden. Below are the neighbourhoods we move in most regularly, with a note on typical property types and the access or parking considerations in each.
Hampstead (NW3)
Hampstead is defined by large detached and semi-detached Victorian and Edwardian villas, period cottages on the lanes near the Heath, and some of the widest and most valuable properties in north London. Moves here involve substantial volume, heavy furniture, and properties that are often set back from the road or accessed via private driveways. The roads in Hampstead, particularly around the Heath and the village, are narrow and in some cases steep, which requires careful vehicle selection. We confirm access for every Hampstead booking individually and recommend a free pre-move visit for larger properties to ensure the right team size and vehicle.
Kentish Town (NW5)
Kentish Town is one of Camden's largest residential areas, with predominantly Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing on a consistent grid of streets. The moving volumes here are typically medium to large, and the properties are mostly terraced houses converted into flats and maisonettes alongside some remaining full houses. The area has a high proportion of rented properties and a corresponding volume of tenancy changeover moves throughout the year. CPZ coverage is comprehensive, and parking suspensions are required on most streets. The main roads, Kentish Town Road, Highgate Road, and Fortess Road, have loading restrictions that need to be checked for your specific address.
Primrose Hill (NW1, NW3)
Primrose Hill is one of the most sought-after small neighbourhoods in Camden, with Victorian terraces, garden squares, and a well-kept village centre. Properties here are predominantly terraced houses and period conversion flats, and move volumes are typically significant given the property sizes and the established nature of the households that tend to relocate from here. The streets are generally well-proportioned and accessible, though parking is entirely permit-controlled and suspensions are required on every residential street. The proximity to Regent's Park means some streets have specific access restrictions.
Camden Town (NW1)
Camden Town is one of the busiest and most distinctive areas in London, and managing a removal here requires careful planning around market days, heavy footfall on the main streets, and the traffic conditions around the A502 Camden High Street and Chalk Farm Road. The residential streets behind the main roads are more manageable, with Victorian terraced housing and conversion flats that are typical of this part of north London. We advise booking a weekday move and confirming the loading position for your specific address during the booking stage. The canal-side streets near Regent's Canal are particularly pleasant on quieter days.
Bloomsbury (WC1)
Bloomsbury is characterised by Georgian and early Victorian garden squares, mansion blocks, and a dense concentration of academic and cultural institutions. The residential streets here are among the finest Georgian streetscapes in London, and moves often involve larger, well-established households with period furniture and art that requires careful handling and specialist packing. Bloomsbury sits at the southern tip of the Camden borough, and some of its streets fall within or on the boundary of the Congestion Charge Zone. We confirm CCZ status and any associated charges for your specific address at the booking stage.
King's Cross (N1C, NW1)
King's Cross has been transformed over the past fifteen years from a predominantly industrial and transport area into one of London's most significant new residential and commercial quarters. New-build apartment buildings in the development around Granary Square, Coal Drops Yard, and the surrounding streets have their own loading bay systems and goods lift protocols. The resident must arrange goods lift access and any loading bay slot directly with the building management team before moving day. Management teams deal with leaseholders and tenants, not removal contractors. We advise on what to request and how much notice to allow when you book.
Highgate (N6)
Highgate sits on the northern boundary of Camden, shared with Haringey, and is one of the most elevated and characterful residential areas in north London. Large Victorian villas, period cottages, and some of the finest houses in north London sit on steep roads with limited access for larger vehicles in some spots. The approach to Highgate from the south via Dartmouth Park Hill and Swains Lane is particularly steep, and some of the narrower lanes around the village are not suitable for a full-size lorry. Our Maxi Mover vans navigate the majority of Highgate roads comfortably, and we confirm vehicle access for every Highgate booking individually.
Swiss Cottage (NW3)
Swiss Cottage is a busy residential and commercial junction area between Hampstead and Camden Town, with a mix of Edwardian mansion blocks, postwar residential blocks, and some later purpose-built developments. Flat moves in the mansion blocks typically involve shared goods lifts with booking requirements. The resident must arrange goods lift access and any loading bay allocation directly with the building management company before moving day. We advise on what to request and how much notice to allow. The roads around Swiss Cottage junction are heavily trafficked, and loading on the main roads is not feasible during peak hours.
Belsize Park (NW3)
Belsize Park occupies the middle ground between Hampstead and Chalk Farm, with a character somewhere between the two: large period houses and mansion blocks alongside a pleasant High Street and a residential population that is a mix of established families and younger professionals. The Edwardian mansion blocks here, particularly on Belsize Avenue and Belsize Lane, have goods lifts with booking requirements that the resident must arrange with their building management company before moving day. The residential streets are generally well-proportioned and accessible, and the area has slightly better parking conditions than the denser parts of the borough.
Kilburn (NW6)
Kilburn straddles the boundary between Camden and Brent and has a diverse, long-established community alongside newer arrivals. The housing here is predominantly Victorian terraced houses and conversion flats, with some postwar blocks in between. Move volumes are typically medium, and the properties are generally accessible for a standard Maxi Mover van. The main roads, Kilburn High Road and Shoot Up Hill, are very busy throughout the day, and loading on them is not feasible without a dispensation. Side street access is generally manageable, and CPZ coverage applies on most residential streets.

Quick tips for moving day
Ask for a free pre-move visit
We can visit your property in advance or conduct a video survey to assess the volume of your move, plan the right team and vehicle, and estimate packing materials. We will also check access, stairwells, and parking, which is especially important for larger homes in Hampstead and Highgate, and for mansion block flats in Swiss Cottage and Belsize Park.
Book your suspension as early as possible
Camden's 17-working-day minimum notice for a parking suspension is the longest in London. As soon as your move date is confirmed, submit the suspension application — not the week before, but within days of confirming the date. Three and a half calendar weeks disappears quickly. If you miss the window, there is no express option: late applications are not processed. We can apply on your behalf if you prefer.
Confirm building access before moving day
If you are moving in or out of a mansion block, a new-build development, or any building with a concierge or managing agent, contact your building management team as early as possible to book the removal window, lift access, and any loading bay allocation. They will only deal with you directly, not with the removal company.
Prepare your appliances
Defrost the fridge freezer at least 24 hours before moving day, drain the washing machine, and secure any loose shelves or glass panels. This prevents leaks or damage during transport and avoids delays on the morning.
Pack a first-night bag
Set aside a bag with overnight essentials, toiletries, chargers, medication, keys, and basic kitchen items, before packing begins. Keep it with you on moving day so you are not searching through boxes at the end of a long day.
Do a final walkthrough
Before the van leaves, walk through every room, cupboard, and storage space. Camden properties, particularly Victorian terraced houses with understairs storage, basement rooms, and garden sheds, often have more storage than you remember on a busy day. A five-minute walkthrough avoids the cost and inconvenience of a return trip.
