Professional home removals in London
Best London Removals has been carrying out home removals across London since 2011.
As a member of the National Guild of Removers & Storers (NGRS) and a 2026 award winner, including the Perfect Record Award for zero compensation claims across 11 years, we work to independently recognised professional standards, giving you the confidence that your move is in the hands of a verified, accountable company.
Every home removal we carry out is planned and priced individually. You get a fixed quote based on your specific property, volume, and access, not a ballpark figure that changes on the day. Our team handles everything from professional packing and furniture dismantling through to careful transport, delivery, and reassembly at your new home.
- Full packing, or fragile only if preferred
- Furniture dismantling and reassembly
- Professional wrapping and protection
- Fully insured, fixed-price quotes
Planning your domestic move in London
Whether you are moving locally within London or relocating further afield, we focus on careful handling, realistic scheduling, and smooth coordination from start to finish.

Access and property details
Every successful move starts with understanding the specifics of your property. We need to know whether you're moving from a house or a flat, what floor you're on, whether there's a lift, how accessible both properties are from the street, and whether there are any narrow staircases, communal hallways, or long carry distances involved. The more detail we have upfront, the more accurately we can plan team size, vehicle, and timing.
Parking, CPZ restrictions, and suspensions
In London, most residential streets in inner and outer boroughs operate some form of controlled parking. If your road is in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), you'll typically need a temporary parking suspension to reserve space for the removal van on moving day. Requirements and notice periods vary by borough, most London councils need at least 5–7 working days' notice. We advise on what's needed for your specific street and can guide you through the application process
Choosing the right vehicle and team size
Getting the vehicle size and number of movers right is one of the most important parts of the planning process. An undersized van means multiple trips and inflated costs. Too few movers and the day runs long, especially on stair carries. We allocate based on your volume and access, not the minimum, so the move runs at a steady, controlled pace.
Our home removal process and standards
From careful packing and furniture dismantling to secure transport and room-by-room placement, we take care of every stage of your move.

Professional packing and protective materials
We use professional-grade packing materials on every job, double-walled boxes, protective blankets, stretch wrap, mattress covers, and specialist wrapping for fragile and high-value items. You can choose a full packing service, a fragile-only pack, or handle your own packing and leave the rest to us.
Furniture dismantling and reassembly
Beds, wardrobes, dining tables, and larger furniture items are dismantled where needed to navigate doorways, stairwells, and tight corridors safely. We keep all fixings organised and reassemble everything at your destination so you're not left with a pile of parts.
Safe loading and secure transport across London
Every item is wrapped and secured before it goes on the van. We load methodically — heavier furniture first, boxes stacked to prevent movement — and strap everything in place for transit. A properly loaded vehicle protects your belongings and makes unloading faster and safer.
Delivery, placement, and setup
At your new home, we unload carefully, place items in the rooms you specify, and reassemble any furniture we dismantled. We aim to leave your new home organised and ready for you to settle into — not a chaotic pile of boxes in the hallway.

Home types we move in London
London’s housing stock is varied, and the access challenges on moving day differ significantly depending on your property type. Here’s how we approach each.
Houses
Houses usually allow more direct access from the front door to the street, but carrying distances can still be significant for larger properties or when items are stored in garages, lofts, or outbuildings
Flats and apartments
Flat moves often need extra planning, including arranging lift use in advance, checking floor load limits, and allowing more time for stair carries when no lift is available.
Maisonettes
Maisonettes combine access issues from both houses and flats, with internal stairs, shared entrances, and sometimes limited or restricted frontage for parking and loading.
New-build properties
New-build moves can involve narrow estate roads, controlled or limited parking, and shared loading bays that must be booked in specific time slots.
Step-by-step
How your home removal works, step by step
Our process is straightforward, clearly communicated, and built around your specific property and requirements.
1
Pre-Move Assessment
We confirm your property details, access, parking situation, volume of belongings, and any special requirements, via a quick call, a video survey, or an in-person visit for larger moves. This is how we make sure the quote we give you is accurate and the plan we put in place is realistic
2
Your fixed quote
Within 24 hours of the assessment, you'll receive a clear, itemised written quote. Fixed price, not an open-ended hourly estimate that can spiral. The quote is valid for 30 days and covers everything we've agreed, with no additions on the day
3
Booking confirmation
Once you accept the quote, we confirm your date and start time, allocate the right team and vehicle, and arrange any parking suspension applications if your street requires one. You'll know exactly who is coming and when
4
Move day, done properly
We arrive on time, protect your belongings carefully, load efficiently, transport everything safely, and unload and place items where you need them. Furniture is reassembled, protective wrapping removed, and we leave when you're happy — not before.
Packing and protecting your belongings
Expert packing, careful wrapping, and secure preparation to keep your belongings protected from collection to delivery

Professional-grade packing materials
We use double-walled cardboard boxes, protective moving blankets, stretch wrap, mattress covers, wardrobe cartons, and specialist materials for fragile items — glassware, artwork, mirrors, and electronics.
Furniture is wrapped and secured before it leaves the room. Packing done properly minimises damage risk and makes loading and unloading faster and safer.
Furniture dismantling and reassembly
Larger items, beds, wardrobes, dining tables, shelving units, and desk systems, often need to be dismantled to navigate door frames, tight stairwells, and narrow corridors safely.
We do this carefully, keep all fixings labelled and bagged, and reassemble everything correctly at the destination.
Full packing and partial packing options
You can choose how much of the packing you’d like us to handle:
- Full packing service: we pack every room, usually carried out the day before your move date so everything is ready to load on the morning.
- Fragile-only packing: you handle your general belongings; we pack glassware, artwork, electronics, and anything that needs specialist care.
- Part-pack: we pack specific rooms or floor levels while you handle the rest. Works well when you want to keep costs down without compromising on the items that matter most.
Moving day, how we manage the process
Expert packing, careful wrapping, and secure preparation to keep your belongings protected from collection to delivery

Safe loading and secure transport
On moving day, the vehicle is loaded methodically: heavy furniture first, boxes packed in to prevent movement, straps used to secure loads. Every piece of furniture is wrapped before loading.
A properly loaded van protects your belongings from the inevitable vibrations, braking, and road surfaces of a London move.
Stairs, lifts, and restricted access
Many London properties involve stairs, narrow corridors, or restricted lift access. Where lifts are available, we work within any building booking windows and co-ordinate with building management where required. For stair carries, particularly on upper floors of mansion blocks or Victorian conversions, we factor in the additional time and manpower needed so the pace stays steady and nothing gets rushed.
Delivery, placement, and setup at your new home
At your new home, we unload each item carefully and place it where you want it, not just into the nearest available space. Furniture is reassembled, boxes placed in the correct rooms, and all protective wrapping removed or left based on your preference. We aim to leave the place ready for you to start unpacking, not in a state of organised chaos.

Insurance, responsibility, and peace of mind
Goods in transit and public liability cover
We carry comprehensive goods-in-transit and public liability insurance on every move. Your belongings are covered during handling, loading, transport, and unloading. We explain the cover clearly before your move so you know exactly what’s included. If you have high-value or irreplaceable items, let us know in advance so we can plan appropriate packing and handling.
NGRS Award Winner 2026

Best London Removals is a member of the National Guild of Removers & Storers (NGRS) — the UK’s leading trade body for removal and storage companies.
In 2026, we received three national NGRS awards: the Super Elite Plus Remover Award, the Perfect Record Award (zero compensation claims over 11+ years), and the Professional Standards Commitment Award.
Clear communication before, during, and after your move
Most problems during removals come from poor planning and unclear communication, not from the physical work itself.
We focus on getting the details right upfront, access, timing, parking, special requirements, and keeping you informed throughout. If anything changes on the day, you’ll hear about it immediately, not after the fact.

Frequently asked questions
Domestic move FAQs
If you have a quick question before booking, these are the answers we’re asked most often. If anything is unclear, just call us or request a quote and we’ll talk it through.
How do you provide an accurate quote for my home move?
We base quotes on the volume of your belongings, access at both addresses, distance between properties, and any special requirements. For most moves, we confirm details via a quick phone call, video survey, or photos. For larger homes, particularly those with garages, lofts, or significant volume, we recommend an in-person visit to make sure the quote is accurate.
Once confirmed, you receive a fixed written quote: no estimates, no open-ended charges.
Do I need a parking suspension or dispensation in London?
In most cases, yes, if your street is permit-controlled or operates pay-by-phone parking. Requirements and notice periods vary by borough, typically 5–7 working days minimum. We advise on what’s needed for your specific road and can guide you through the council application process. Don’t leave this until the last minute.
What packing options do you offer?
Three options: full packing (we pack everything, usually the day before), fragile-only packing (we handle glassware, artwork, electronics, and delicate items while you pack the rest), or a part-pack for specific rooms. All packing materials, boxes, wrap, blankets, wardrobe cartons, can be quoted and included in the packing service.
Can I buy packing materials from you?
Yes. We supply double-walled boxes, bubble wrap, tape, mattress covers, wardrobe cartons, and other packing materials. You can order these in advance of your move if you prefer to pack yourself.
Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables, and larger items that can’t be moved safely in one piece are dismantled as part of the service and reassembled at the destination. All fixings are kept organised and bagged so nothing gets lost in transit.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. We carry goods-in-transit and public liability insurance on every move. Cover applies during handling, loading, transport, and unloading. If you have high-value items, please let us know in advance so we can arrange appropriate packing and care.
How much does a home removal in London cost?
Cost depends on property size, volume, access, distance, and whether you need packing or storage. We give fixed written quotes after an assessment, not hourly estimates that can change. For a general sense of typical costs, see our price guide.
Can you help with storage if my move dates don't align?
Yes. If you’re in a chain and there’s a gap between leaving your current property and gaining access to the new one, we can arrange short- or long-term storage. Your belongings are kept securely until you’re ready for delivery.
Do you carry out long-distance or UK-wide moves from London?
Yes. Alongside London removals, we handle moves from London to other UK cities and regions. The same process applies, fixed quote, pre-move assessment, professional packing and transport. Contact us with your destination and we’ll confirm what’s involved.
