Our recent London to Liverpool house move involved relocating a 2-bedroom first-floor flat in Finchley to a new 2-bedroom flat in Liverpool.
The job required careful packing, dismantling of bulky furniture, and safe transport with narrow staircase access at the London property.
Packing day – preparation for the move
Afternoon packing service (2 pm – 6 pm)
On the day before the move, our team arrived at the Finchley flat to begin packing. Because of the narrow stairs, several large items including a three-seater sofa, bookshelves, kitchen table, and bed frame had to be dismantled before being wrapped.
A total of 45 small boxes and 40 large boxes were used, with bubble wrap, packing paper, and protective blankets ensuring everything was safe.
Fragile items, books, and picture frames were packed into smaller boxes, while clothes, towels, and curtains were placed into larger ones. Hanging clothes were transferred into dedicated garment wardrobe boxes with rails, with a total of four used to keep clothing protected and crease-free during the move.
The kitchen and bathroom items were left to be packed the following morning, on moving day.
Moving day – from London to Liverpool
Early morning start in London
The team arrived at 7:10 am and began loading at 7:30 am. About 85-90 moving boxes were carefully carried down and placed into the van. Furniture was wrapped in protective blankets to ensure it arrived without scratches or damage. The entire loading process took around three and a half hours.
Travel to Liverpool
The journey to Liverpool took just over four hours, including a short refreshment stop at Welcome Break, Keele (Newcastle-under-Lyme). By 4 pm, the team had arrived at the destination flat and unloading began immediately.
Unloading and reassembly
Furniture was reassembled and all moving boxes were placed in the correct rooms. After around four hours of unloading and reassembly, the move was complete by 8 pm.
